Sean Grayson has a practice that embraces all aspects of corporate/commercial, civil litigation and class actions. He has considerable experience advising clients in large and complex commercial litigation matters.

Sean has experience in matters involving shareholder disputes, securities litigation, pension disputes, negligence and contractual disputes, financial institutions, investment advisors disputes, mining law, constitutional law, product liability, employment disputes, executive compensation and intellectual property disputes.

Sean also has experience in municipal and administrative law.

  • The defence of several former Directors of a TSX listed company in multijurisdictional proceedings
  • Counsel to shareholders in an oppression matter, which includes allegations of Securities Act violations
  • An action commenced under the Class Proceedings Act with respect to alleged misclassification of employees and related overtime entitlements
  • Counsel in the national class proceeding in respect of the constitutional challenge of survivor pension benefits, Hislop v. Canada, appearing before the Supreme Court of Canada and responsible for the administration of the proceeding and ongoing matters;
  • Litigation arising out of the RIM Park financing on behalf of the City of Waterloo
  • The pre-1986 and post-1990 Hepatitis C settlement for claimants in litigation against the Federal Government
  • The proposed national class proceeding seeking damages on behalf of class members for negligence and failure to warn as a result of Medtronic’s manufacturing and sale of defective implantable cardioverter defibrillator, Frank Peters v. Medtronic
  • The defence of various class proceedings arising out of the collapse of Bre-X Minerals;
  • The defence of various parties to enforcement and civil proceedings under the Ontario Securities Act
  • The defence of a national financial institution arising out of investment advisor issues
  • Litigation arising out of TVX’s acquisition of the Kassandra mines in Greece on behalf of TVX Gold and Kinross
  • Pension litigation on behalf of BHP Billiton
  • Various other cases involving contractual disputes, executive compensation and shareholder remedies
  • Various cases involving medical malpractice
